The question builder offers five types. Each does one job well.

Single choice

Viewer picks one from a list. Up to 8 options. Best for: yes/no, preference questions, "which describes you best."

Multiple choice

Viewer picks any number from a list. Up to 8 options. Best for: "select all that apply," interest checklists, feature priority.

Ranking

Viewer orders a list by preference (drag to reorder). Up to 5 items. Best for: relative preference between known options. More cognitive load — use sparingly.

Free text

Viewer types a short answer. Limited to 280 characters by the platform (we don't allow brands to extend it). Best for: open-ended sentiment, missing-option capture. Don't use for PII collection (admin review will reject it).

Demographic confirmation

Show the viewer one demographic value you're targeting on (e.g. age range, ZIP, income bracket) and ask them to confirm or update. Best for: verifying that a viewer's consented data is current at the moment they're answering. Useful for high-stakes research.

A few rules across all types:

  • Required vs optional is set per question. Required means viewer can't proceed without answering; optional means they can skip.
  • Answer order can be randomized to avoid order bias.
  • The viewer always sees the question type they're answering — they can tell from the UI whether to pick one or many.

You can mix types within one Nasq. A 4-question Nasq might be single-single-multi-free-text. Build the order that makes the flow feel natural.
