Transcripts make a ZIP searchable, accessible, and Echo-friendly. There are two ways to add one.
Auto-transcribe (recommended for most)
From the Canvas edit page, click Transcribe on the ZIP. Zayvay runs the audio through automated speech recognition and produces a time-coded transcript in a few minutes. You can edit it line by line afterward.
For RSS-imported shows, the Transcribe button does the same thing against the publisher's audio.
A note: transcription has a length cap of about 90 minutes per episode. Longer episodes can be transcribed in segments — split the file before upload, or contact support for help.
Upload your own
If you already have a transcript (Otter, Descript, manual), paste it in or upload an SRT/VTT file. Zayvay aligns the text to the audio automatically.
Once a transcript is in:
- Viewers can search inside the episode.
- The transcript appears next to the player.
- Echoes on transcript paragraphs are anchored to the corresponding audio moment.
- You can correct any misheard word at any time.
Transcripts are a one-time effort and they keep paying off. Worth doing.
