Writing Canvases are for essays, articles, short fiction, journals — anything text-based.
The Forge editor is a clean rich-text experience. You can:
- Format paragraphs, headings, lists, blockquotes.
- Add inline images.
- Add links.
- Mark sections with a divider.
- Drop in a pull quote.
A few things worth knowing:
- Paragraphs are the unit of Echoes on writing. Viewers tap a paragraph to react to it — keep paragraphs sized to one thought when you can.
- The first 200 words of every published writing Canvas are extracted as a preview, shown on your Vault. You can override the preview from the Canvas edit page.
- Images are stored in our R2 bucket and don't count against your storage window the same way large audio/video files do.
Writing Canvases support Markdown if you'd rather type that way. Toggle the editor mode from the settings menu inside the editor.
