ZIP is Zayvay's audio-and-video format. It's what you use for podcast episodes, video essays, talks, interviews — anything where listeners or viewers move through time.

What makes a ZIP different from a plain video upload:

  • Waveform for audio, timeline for video.
  • Transcripts for searchability and accessibility. See Adding transcripts.
  • Interactive events — clickable moments, image swaps, slide sync. Built in the ZIP timeline editor.
  • Echoes anchored to timestamps — viewers tap a moment, the creator sees the exact second something landed.

To create a ZIP Canvas:

  1. New Canvas → ZIP.
  2. Upload an audio or video file. Forge accepts MP3, M4A, WAV for audio; MP4 for video.
  3. The file is sent through the platform's encoding pipeline. Audio finishes in a couple of minutes, video takes longer depending on length.
  4. While encoding, you can write your description, set the title, pick a Collection, and start adding transcripts or interactive events.
  5. Publish when encoding is done.
